Los Angeles, CA – Bob Newhart, the beloved comedian and actor renowned for “The Bob Newhart Show,” has died at 94.
According to his publicist Jerry Digney, Newhart passed away after a series of short illnesses. Known for his unique deadpan delivery and timeless humor, Newhart’s career spanned decades, earning him a place in the hearts of many fans and a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois, in 1929, Newhart initially worked as an accountant before breaking into comedy with his debut album, “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart,” in 1960. The album was a massive success, topping the charts and earning him a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. His television career took off with “The Bob Newhart Show,” which aired from 1972 to 1978, where he played a Chicago psychologist. The show’s success cemented his status as a television icon.
In addition to his television work, Newhart appeared in numerous films, including “Elf,” “Legally Blonde 2,” and “Catch-22.” He also made guest appearances on several TV shows, earning an Emmy for his role on “The Big Bang Theory” in 2013.
