Lee County, IL – Two Amboy men were taken into custody in separate narcotics investigations this week, according to a statement from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say 52-year-old Charles T. Lovell was arrested on October 23 following a methamphetamine investigation. Lovell was charged with Delivery of Methamphetamine (15–100 grams, Class X Felony) and Delivery of Methamphetamine (<5 grams, Class 2 Felony).
According to officials, Lovell had previously been arrested in 2021 on separate charges involving a stolen motor vehicle. He later pleaded guilty and was placed on 12 months of conditional discharge earlier this month. In line with the Illinois SAFE-T Act, Lovell was released pending a future court appearance.
Five days later, on October 28, deputies arrested 34-year-old Steven M. Hobbs, also of Amboy, after completing another narcotics investigation. Hobbs was charged with Delivery of Methamphetamine (<5 grams, Class 2 Felony) and was likewise released pending court under the SAFE-T Act.
