Lee County, FL – A resident in the Bristol Park community alerted deputies Wednesday night after a man wearing a vest, firearm and radio allegedly knocked on their door while posing as a law enforcement officer. The incident sparked a rapid search and ended with the arrest of a 19-year-old.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, doorbell footage captured the suspect dressed in law-enforcement-style gear. When the resident later confronted him in the roadway, he allegedly claimed to work for LCSO and said he was “investigating a dog attack.” Deputies said the resident quickly noticed the vest had no official agency insignia.
Deputies saturated the neighborhood and soon located 19-year-old Jayden Williams White, who allegedly switched his story and claimed to be a Corrections Deputy. According to investigators, he could not provide an employee number, identification or any valid credentials and allegedly gave deputies a false name during questioning.
Detectives later recovered additional items from White’s home, including the vest, holster and an airsoft handgun resembling a service weapon. Deputies said the items were consistent with what the resident described in the initial report.
White was arrested on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and providing false identification to law enforcement, according to the sheriff’s office. No injuries were reported, and investigators have not identified any additional victims at this time.
Authorities urge residents to remain cautious and request credentials anytime someone claims to be a sworn officer.
