Lee County, FL – Deputies in Lee County arrested a man accused of wielding a machete and attacking victims during a violent confrontation that ended in a traffic stop and multiple felony charges.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began Friday when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at the 2nd Precinct Substation involving a suspect later identified as Leodan Gallo. Investigators said Gallo drove to a victim’s apartment complex, initiated an altercation, and followed the victims as they tried to leave.

At the intersection of Homestead Road N and Alabama Rd S, Gallo allegedly exited his vehicle with a machete and struck the rear windshield of the victims’ car, shattering the glass. The victims then fled to the nearest sheriff’s substation to report the attack.

Deputies said Gallo arrived soon after, causing a disturbance in the parking lot before leaving in his vehicle. When deputies tried to stop him, he allegedly reversed into a patrol car before fleeing. A short time later, deputies located and arrested Gallo following a traffic stop.

A search of his vehicle uncovered two machetes within arm’s reach, according to authorities.

Detectives charged Gallo with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno commended deputies for their “quick actions that led to putting this dangerous, reckless criminal behind bars.”
