Lehigh Acres, FL – A Lehigh Acres teenager has been arrested following an attempted robbery at a 7-Eleven convenience store that escalated into a violent confrontation, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to deputies, the incident occurred Thursday, January 1, when officers with the LCSO 2nd Precinct responded to a reported robbery at the gas station. Investigators say a masked suspect allegedly entered the store, concealed what appeared to be a firearm, and demanded money from the clerk.

Surveillance video shows the clerk resisting the suspect’s demands, leading to a physical struggle inside the store. Deputies said the suspect was eventually pushed out of the business, at which point he allegedly fired multiple shots at the clerk using a pellet gun before fleeing the scene. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

Images taken from the surveillance footage were later shared with Crime Stoppers and local media outlets. Authorities say a tip from the public helped detectives identify the 15-year-old suspect.

With assistance from family members, deputies located Guzman hiding inside a closet at his girlfriend’s residence. He was taken into custody on Friday, January 2, and charged with robbery and battery, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say the case remains active. LCSO is asking for the public’s help identifying a second individual seen in the surveillance video who may have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
