LeClaire, IA – A fatal car crash early Monday morning claimed the life of a 38-year-old man from East Moline, Illinois. A LeClaire police officer discovered the vehicle at approximately 4:57 a.m. near the intersection of Forest Grove Road and SW 35th Street. The vehicle had struck a tree, and the sole occupant was found unresponsive.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the driver, identified as a 38-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. Initial investigations suggest that the white 2013 Honda Pilot was traveling east on Forest Grove Road and failed to navigate the T-intersection at SW 35th Street. The vehicle continued straight, bypassing the stop sign, and collided with a tree on the east side of SW 35th Street.
Further examination revealed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team, with assistance from the Scott Emergency Communications Center, Scott County Medic EMS, LeClaire Police Department, and LeClaire Fire Department.
