Lebanon, Maine — A traffic stop on Route 202 Wednesday afternoon escalated into a foot pursuit and Taser deployment, ending with a Lebanon man taken into custody.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, when Deputy Levi Johnson stopped a vehicle on Route 202 in Lebanon for a traffic violation.

During the stop, the deputy reportedly recognized a front-seat passenger as Jamison Snyder, 54, of Lebanon, who allegedly had several outstanding arrest warrants.

Authorities said the warrants were for Operating after Revoked–Habitual Offender, Refusing to Submit to Arrest, Criminal Mischief, and Violation of Conditions of Release.

According to the sheriff’s office, Snyder allegedly fled from the vehicle during the stop. Deputy Johnson pursued him into a nearby snowbank, where Snyder allegedly continued resisting attempts to place him under arrest.

Officials said the deputy deployed a Taser during the struggle in order to take Snyder into custody safely.

Snyder was transported to the York County Jail, where he was processed on the outstanding warrants as well as new charges of Refusing to Submit to Arrest and Violation of Conditions of Release, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office reported that bail on the outstanding warrants was set at $1,000, while no bail was allowed on the new charges.

Snyder is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday, March 6, at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford, according to officials.

Traffic stops along Route 202 are common for commuters traveling between Lebanon and surrounding York County communities, particularly during weekday afternoon hours.

The incident remains part of routine law enforcement activity reported by the York County Sheriff’s Office.
