Laurel, Delaware – A 26-year-old man died in a single-vehicle crash in Laurel early Saturday.

According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Laurel Road west of Curley Road. Investigators said a Chevrolet S10 was traveling westbound when the driver failed to negotiate a slight curve for reasons still under investigation.

Police said the vehicle ran off the south edge of the roadway, entered a deep ditch, struck a tree and overturned onto its roof.

The driver, identified as a 26-year-old Laurel man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Laurel Road was closed for approximately three hours while members of the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted a preliminary investigation.
