LaSalle, IL – The LaSalle Police Department has announced an arrest following damage to multiple department vehicles discovered early Friday morning, December 26, 2025.

According to a department news release, officers found that the tires on several marked and unmarked police vehicles — along with one personal vehicle — had been intentionally slashed while parked on city property. Police immediately launched an investigation and identified a suspect believed responsible.

As a result, Eric N. Fischer, 46, of LaSalle, was taken into custody and charged with Felony Criminal Damage to Property, Felony Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, and Felon in Possession of a Weapon, according to Chief Jason Stubler.

Despite the damage, the department reported no service interruptions, with mutual aid resources and contingency plans ensuring continued public safety.

“This type of criminal act will not deter our mission or our commitment to the City of La Salle,” Chief Stubler said. “Our officers responded quickly and ensured that police services to residents were not impacted.”

The affected vehicles have been repaired and returned to service. The LaSalle Police Department also extended thanks to the Peru Police Department for their assistance during the investigation.
