Las Vegas, Nev. – Thunderstorms could pop up across Mohave County and eastern San Bernardino County this afternoon, bringing the chance for gusty winds, brief heavy downpours, and small hail. The unsettled weather comes as much of southern Nevada and western Arizona sit in the upper 90s to low 100s Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, isolated storms remain possible until late evening, especially in higher terrain and desert valleys. Drivers on I-40 through Kingman and US-93 near Lake Havasu City should watch for sudden visibility drops and slick roads if storms flare.

Temperatures will gradually fall beginning Monday, with highs dipping 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal averages by midweek. Las Vegas is expected to reach 98 Sunday before cooling to the upper 80s by Thursday. Consistent southwest breezes will also return each afternoon, helping usher in the drier air.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during storms and secure lightweight items that could blow around in gusty winds. The risk for thunderstorms diminishes by Monday as dry, cooler conditions settle across the region.
