Las Vegas, Nev. – Strong monsoon storms are sweeping across southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and southeastern California Monday, bringing the threat of flash flooding, damaging winds, and dangerous road conditions through the night. Drivers are urged to avoid low-water crossings and prepare for rapidly changing conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, storms will initially form over mountain ranges before drifting into desert valleys, producing heavy rain, frequent lightning, and roadway flooding. The highest flash flooding risk exists in areas where storms stall over terrain, particularly in San Bernardino County, including Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, and along State Route 62.

Several waves of thunderstorms are expected through late Monday, increasing the likelihood of flooding in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City. Rural highways across Clark, Mohave, and San Bernardino counties could become impassable at times. Officials urge drivers to turn around if they encounter standing water and to keep alternate travel routes in mind.

Storm chances remain elevated into early Tuesday, with additional advisories possible. Residents should stay alert for warnings and be prepared for sudden road closures.
