Las Vegas, Nev. – Overnight storms brought flash flooding to parts of Clark County, prompting late-night warnings as thunderstorms drenched low-lying areas and road crossings. Water levels briefly rose on some roads before conditions began improving toward sunrise Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, multiple flash flood warnings were in effect until early Saturday morning across southern Nevada, with radar detecting thunderstorms dropping heavy rain over the Las Vegas Valley and nearby canyons. Emergency officials urged drivers to avoid flooded routes, warning that even shallow water can sweep away vehicles.
Flood-prone corridors, including Blue Diamond Road, U.S. 95 near Kyle Canyon, and sections of the Red Rock area, were flagged for possible high water. By early morning, rainfall tapered off, but drainage systems in central Las Vegas and Henderson continued to move standing water.
The rest of the weekend looks dry, with highs near 97°F Saturday and climbing to 98°F on Sunday and Monday. Light winds will pick up in the afternoons, but skies will remain mostly clear.
Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time Saturday morning and stay alert for lingering puddles or road closures in flood-prone areas. More monsoon moisture is possible next week, though no immediate warnings are in place.
