Las Vegas, Nevada – Southern Nevada remains locked in a brutal heatwave this week as Las Vegas temperatures hover near 110°F through at least Sunday, with minimal relief overnight. Health officials are warning residents to limit outdoor exposure during peak heat hours and stay hydrated.
According to the National Weather Service, high pressure over the region is driving persistent sunny skies and extreme heat, with daily highs ranging from 108°F to 110°F through early next week. Overnight lows are barely dipping below the low 80s, offering little respite for those without air conditioning.
Wind gusts of up to 28 mph are possible Thursday and Friday afternoons, raising concerns for fire danger in already dry desert conditions. Residents in Paradise, Sunrise Manor, and surrounding Las Vegas Valley areas are urged to avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Officials recommend using cooling centers, limiting time on sun-exposed roadways like I-15 and U.S. Route 95, and ensuring pets and children are never left in vehicles—even briefly.
This excessive heat is expected to persist through at least Tuesday. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions intensify.
