LAS VEGAS — Ongoing construction, lane restrictions, and major sporting events continue to create major congestion hotspots throughout the city.
While major Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) projects along I-15 were completed in 2025, this year, NDOT will continue projects across the valley, impacting congestion. Current projects include an overhaul of the Interstate 215 beltway near Summerlin Parkway and a widening project in Henderson. Both are expected to be completed by 2028. During this period, commuters should anticipate cones and lane reductions.
The Regional Transportation Commission’s (RTC) Bus Rapid Transit project on Maryland Parkway continues and should be completed in the fall of 2026.
The Spaghetti Bowl (I-11/US-95 and I-15) handles massive volumes of traffic each day, and traffic disruptions on this complex can be felt across the city. Because the Spaghetti Bowl has complex traffic movements, during heavy loads, traffic can bottleneck.
Drivers can reduce delays by traveling during off-peak hours and avoiding weekday rush hours, generally from 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Travellers can avoid the resort corridor by using the RTC’s public bus system or other transit options. Navigation apps like Waze and the Southern Nevada Traffic Management Center can provide real-time updates on accidents, road closures, and congestion.
