LAS VEGAS — Drivers can avoid tickets and towing by staying informed about downtown parking enforcement schedules and residential parking permit renewals.
The start of the new year marks a key period for Las Vegas drivers to renew expired residential parking permits and adjust to updated parking rates. For the first time since 2019, the city increased hourly parking rates for ramps, lots, and meters. On-street meters increased from $1 to $2 – $4 per hour, while city-managed lots increased to almost $6 per hour. City officials said the increases will help fund parking facility maintenance.
The city has also expanded the free lunch spot on-street parking program in the Arts District from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on weekdays.
Drivers are encouraged to check their residential parking permits and renew them if they have expired. Many residents make use of the auto-renewal feature to avoid fines and towing if they are found in violation of the permit provisions. According to the city’s code of ordinances, first-time violations will not result in immediate impounding.
New residents can apply for a residential parking permit for $20 and are reminded to display the permit on either the lower left-hand corner of the rear window or hanging from the rear view mirror.
