Las Vegas, Nevada – Parts of the Las Vegas Valley may experience the first freeze of the season tonight into Saturday morning, prompting a freeze warning for sensitive areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, temperatures are expected to drop to near or below freezing overnight, with the best chances for a freeze along the outer edges of the valley. Areas including Summerlin, southern Henderson, and Nellis Air Force Base are most likely to see freezing temperatures.

Forecast lows tonight are expected to fall into the mid-30s, with some locations briefly dipping to or below the freezing mark. The National Weather Service said frost and freeze conditions could damage or kill sensitive vegetation, impact unprotected outdoor plumbing, and pose risks to pets left outdoors.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including covering or bringing in plants, protecting exposed pipes, and ensuring pets are brought indoors if possible. Even a brief freeze can cause damage during the first cold event of the season.

The freeze risk is expected to be short-lived. Temperatures are forecast to warm steadily through the remainder of the weekend and into next week, with daytime highs climbing back into the upper 50s and 60s, and overnight lows moderating into the upper 30s and 40s.

Friday daytime temperatures will remain cool, but conditions will improve after sunrise Saturday as the cold air mass moves out of the region. No precipitation is expected with this cold snap.

The National Weather Service emphasized that while freezing temperatures may not be widespread across the entire valley, residents in colder-prone locations should remain alert and take protective actions tonight.

Additional updates will be issued if freeze conditions expand or persist longer than expected.
