Las Vegas, NV – Dangerous heat is gripping southern Nevada this week, with the National Weather Service warning of triple-digit temperatures holding through Thursday evening. Highs will top out near 111°F Wednesday before easing slightly to 108°F Thursday, keeping the region under an Extreme Heat Warning until 8 p.m. Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas office, the most intense heat will impact Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and nearby desert communities, including Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Pahrump, and Mesquite. Heat-related illnesses can develop quickly in these conditions, especially for those without adequate cooling or hydration.
Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours, wear light clothing, and drink plenty of water. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration advises frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spaces for anyone working outside. Pets and children should never be left unattended in vehicles, where interior temperatures can reach lethal levels within minutes.
While a slight cooling trend is expected by Friday, highs will still reach the low 100s, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms late in the week.
