Las Vegas, Nevada – Strong desert winds are already creating difficult driving conditions across southern Nevada, with gusts reaching 50 mph expected through Saturday along major travel corridors including I-15, US 95, and I-11.

Drivers across the Las Vegas Valley could encounter sudden crosswinds capable of pushing vehicles across lanes, particularly on elevated roadways and open desert stretches.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a Wind Advisory remains in effect through Saturday as north to northwest winds strengthen across Clark County and surrounding desert regions. Wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph are expected at times, especially during the afternoon and evening hours when winds typically peak.

Communities including Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, North Las Vegas, and Mesquite may experience periods of strong gusts capable of blowing dust, sand, and debris onto roadways. Travel along Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Primm, as well as US 95 heading northwest toward Indian Springs, could become especially difficult for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, RVs, and trailers.

Strong winds may also create hazardous conditions for drivers crossing exposed areas near Lake Mead and along I-11 toward Boulder City, where gusts can funnel through desert valleys.

Loose outdoor items such as trash cans, patio furniture, and temporary structures could be blown around during the strongest wind bursts. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor belongings and use extra caution while driving.

Boaters on nearby lakes may also encounter building waves and rough water conditions due to persistent winds.

Forecasters say windy conditions will likely continue in waves through Saturday evening, and additional advisories may be issued if stronger gusts develop across southern Nevada.
