LAS VEGAS – Motorists traveling in Las Vegas should expect 24/7 lane restrictions on Interstate 15 due to the I-15 South Widening Project

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has begun implementing nightly and around-the-clock lane restrictions and off-ramp closures starting Tuesday, Sept. 16, to allow for paving, concrete collar placement and manhole adjustments.

Through Friday, Sept. 19, southbound I-15 will be reduced to three lanes between Warm Springs Road and Blue Diamond Road. Southbound I-15 has been reduced to three lanes between Blue Diamond Road and Silverado Ranch Boulevard during this period.

Construction of the nine-mile stretch of interstate started in 2024 and will continue through December of this year. The project aims to improve travel time and reliability while accommodating the region’s growth.

To minimize impact on drivers, work hours  begin at 8 p.m. on Sundays, when traffic will be reduced to one lane until 5 a.m. Daytime construction will lower the speed limit to 55 mph for worker safety, with lane shifts and reductions expected.

Officials said the project is designed to balance construction goals with minimizing the impact on travelers.
