Las Vegas, Nevada – Triple-digit heat is scorching southern Nevada this week, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for Las Vegas from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 10 p.m. Thursday. Temperatures will climb to 110°F on both Wednesday and Juneteenth, creating dangerous conditions across the Las Vegas Valley, especially along I-15 and U.S. 95.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, the region faces elevated risks of heat-related illness, especially for those without reliable air conditioning or working outdoors during peak sun hours. Wednesday’s high reaches 110°F, with south winds increasing up to 20 mph by afternoon. Thursday brings no relief, holding steady near 110°F again, and lows will only drop into the low 80s, offering limited overnight cooling.
Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., use cooling centers when needed, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles. Power demand is expected to surge, increasing the potential for rolling blackouts if systems strain.
By Friday, the high remains dangerously hot at 107°F, before slightly easing into the weekend. Saturday tops out near 102°F, followed by a cooler but still warm 86°F Sunday. Winds will pick up slightly, increasing fire weather concerns into early next week.
Stay tuned for updated advisories as extreme heat conditions persist through the week.
