Las Vegas, Nev. – Southern Nevada faces a dangerous stretch of extreme heat this week, with temperatures climbing above 110 degrees in Las Vegas and nearby communities from Wednesday morning through Saturday night. The National Weather Service warns the region could see some of the hottest days of the summer, with little relief after sunset.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, highs will reach around 110 degrees in Las Vegas, Henderson, and Barstow, while Laughlin, Bullhead City, and Needles may soar closer to 115. Death Valley is expected to peak near 120 degrees, with overnight lows staying in the upper 80s to low 90s, offering almost no cooling.
Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity, especially during afternoon hours. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning for anyone working outside.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Pets and children should never be left in vehicles.
The excessive heat warning remains in effect through Saturday night, and more advisories could follow if triple-digit temperatures persist into next week.
