LAS VEGAS — Limited-run comedy shows are increasingly replacing headliner music acts on the Strip as entertainment evolves.

Since 2024, the gambling industry has seen a considerable drop, and venues are now shifting to alternative means of entertainment on the Strip. Traditional headliner music acts are declining as limited-run comedy shows take center stage. This shift is a result of venues’ booking strategies that focus on lower production costs and higher margins. Unlike music headliners, comedy shows require minimal staging and typically don’t need massive lighting rigs and large crews. This also allows comedy residencies to find themselves in more intimate venues.

Ticket prices for comedy residencies are generally more affordable and have better pricing stability. For many visitors, comedy headlines appeal to different age groups and do not require the deep fandom that music acts do. The Palazzo Theater is an example of this shift when it replaced music-heavy programming with a strong focus on comedy.

In 2026, several limited-run comedy residencies are scheduled on the Strip, including appearances by Nikki Glaser, David Spade, Chelsea Handler, and Carrot Top.
