LAS VEGAS — Visitors hoping to book accommodation shortly after major conventions will find that the city still feels overbooked, and there’s a reason why.
This year, industry experts predict that 2026 is going to see a record number of major shows that will draw in thousands of visitors. The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) has recently completed its $600 million renovation of the legacy campus to cater to the increased number of attendees in the city. LVCC is ready to host upwards of 48 tradeshows and 1.23 million tradeshow attendees in 2026.
Because of this demand, hotels often block rooms months in advance for major conventions. Many travelers assume occupancy drops immediately after, but in reality, most crowds linger as visitors explore all the entertainment that the city has to offer. During seasons of back-to-back events, there is little time for recovery periods.
During these busy stretches, visitors should expect heavier pedestrian traffic on the Strip and limited restaurant availability. Travelers are recommended to keep an eye on event schedules and delay their trip a day later to avoid the crowds.
