Las Vegas, Nev. – Dangerous flash flooding is underway in northeastern Clark County as early Friday storms dump more than an inch of rain across the desert floor. Officials warn drivers could face washed-out roads and rising water until at least 4:30 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Doppler radar detected intense thunderstorms producing up to 1.5 inches of rain across Moapa Town, Overton, Logandale, and the Valley of Fire area. Floodwaters are impacting low-water crossings and sections of Interstate 15 between mile markers 77 and 95.

In nearby Arizona, west-central Mohave County, including Meadview, Temple Bar, and South Cove, is also under a flash flood warning until 5:45 a.m. MST. The Colorado River near mile marker 281 is among the areas at risk of dangerous rises.

Officials urge residents and travelers to avoid flooded roads and find alternate routes. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains the key safety message, especially at night when water hazards are harder to spot.

Warnings remain in effect through early Friday morning, with additional advisories possible if storms persist.
