Larimer County, CO – A Denver man was arrested early Monday after allegedly stealing a vehicle, setting it ablaze, and damaging agricultural land near Timnath Reservoir, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies received a 9-1-1 call around 4:30 a.m. on January 12 about a stolen 2019 Kia Soul from the 400 block of Centro Way. Using tracking data from the victim, deputies located the vehicle about 50 minutes later in a field east of Timnath Reservoir and north of Weld County Road 78. The car and a nearby tree line were fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.

According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene and attempted to enter a law enforcement vehicle before being caught. Using drone technology, deputies located and arrested 35-year-old Jared Rosier of Denver.

Rosier was booked into the Larimer County Jail on multiple charges, including aggravated motor vehicle theft, second-degree arson, and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety, according to jail records.

“This outcome is a direct result of well-coordinated teamwork and technology,” said Undersheriff Joe Shellhammer. “We hope this sends a strong message about keeping our community safe.”

The sheriff’s office thanked assisting agencies, including Fort Collins Police Services, Timnath Police Department, and Colorado State University Police and Safety.
