Larimer County, CO – Six people are in custody after a dangerous early-morning pursuit involving an allegedly impaired driver and an armed confrontation with deputies in Northern Colorado.

According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday near Harmony Road and Ziegler Road in Fort Collins. The driver allegedly refused to stop and fled eastbound at reckless speeds, crossing into Weld County.

During the pursuit, officials say a shot was fired from the suspect vehicle toward a pursuing deputy, striking the deputy’s patrol vehicle. No injuries were reported.

The vehicle eventually stopped on Highway 392 west of Interstate 25. All occupants then fled on foot, prompting a coordinated search involving multiple agencies.

Using drone technology, deputies located all six occupants, who were safely taken into custody. During the search, an Everbridge emergency notification was sent to nearby residents advising them to shelter in place. Authorities later confirmed the alert was lifted once the suspects were secured.

“We are thankful no one was injured — deputy or members of the public alike — despite the suspects’ reckless actions,” said Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen in a statement. “This is an example of the professionalism and dedication of our deputies and area partners who work to keep the community safe and produced the best possible outcome.”

Assisting agencies included Fort Collins Police Services, the Loveland Police Department, and the Town of Windsor Police Department.

Charges against the suspects have not yet been announced. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are expected to release additional details as they become available.

Residents are encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
