Berthoud, CO – Deputies in Larimer County say a Berthoud man has been arrested after a string of burglaries in the PrairieStar subdivision, where more than $13,000 in stolen property was recovered.
According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began Sunday, September 21, 2025, after a homeowner reported scaring off a man attempting to steal from his garage. The following morning, multiple neighbors in the same area reported similar thefts.
Deputies later located a suspect vehicle and conducted a stop, allegedly finding a significant amount of stolen property inside. A search warrant for the suspect’s storage unit, residence, and vehicle led to the recovery of additional property. In total, deputies say they recovered stolen goods valued at over $13,700.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Roger Rickard, was arrested on charges including five counts of second-degree burglary, theft between $5,000 and $20,000, attempted burglary, and possession of burglary tools. He was issued a $10,000 personal recognizance bond and was reportedly on parole for a prior burglary case.
“Thanks to thorough police work and a meticulous investigation, our deputies have recovered most of the stolen property and returned it to its rightful owners,” said Sergeant Justin Williamson of the Berthoud Squad.
Deputies believe there may be additional unreported thefts in the PrairieStar neighborhood. Anyone who lives in the subdivision and believes they may have been a victim is asked to contact Deputy Zack Anderson at (970) 498-5597.
The charges remain allegations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
