Cheyenne, WY – A large grass fire south of Cheyenne prompted multiple road closures and evacuations Tuesday evening before crews were able to contain the flames, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the fire broke out between US-85 and I-25 near the Terry Ranch Road area. By 6:17 p.m., US-85 reopened to both northbound and southbound traffic, though High Plains Road remained closed between US-85 and I-25. Terry Bison Road also continues to be shut down as of Tuesday night.

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol officials, those impacted — including residents of the Winchester Hills area — were evacuated to South High School as a precaution. No injuries or property damage have been reported at this time.

The fire is currently contained, though officials are asking the public to stay clear of the affected area while emergency crews monitor the scene.
