Lane County, OR – A late-night barricade arrest in Creswell and a separate business theft investigation in Eugene kept Lane County Sheriff’s deputies busy Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 82100 block of Davisson Road, south of Creswell, to contact Jose Donaldo DeLeon, 32, of Creswell. Authorities said DeLeon had allegedly entered a residence earlier without permission and slashed the victim’s tires.

When deputies arrived, DeLeon allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence. Deputies attempted phone negotiations while an armored rescue vehicle and the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team responded. After negotiations failed, a Lane County Circuit Court judge issued an arrest warrant, and deputies moved in.

Deputies deployed pepper spray without effect, then forced entry and arrested DeLeon without further incident. He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including Criminal Trespass in the First Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.

While deputies were still working that scene, another call came in around 1 a.m. Wednesday involving people siphoning gas from a business in Glenwood, Eugene. Deputies reportedly observed Kevin Ray Fanning, 59, and Kristina Michelle Cole, 45, both of Eugene, at the scene.

According to deputies, Cole initially provided a false name but was later identified. Investigators determined both individuals had outstanding warrants. During a search of a vehicle belonging to Fanning, deputies located a firearm. Fanning, who deputies said is a felon, was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Theft in the Third Degree, along with failure-to-appear warrants.

Cole was arrested on multiple charges, including Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Theft in the Third Degree, Giving False Information to a Peace Officer, and warrants related to theft and probation violations.

The Sheriff’s Office said limited staffing required deputies to work overtime past their shifts and thanked Oregon State Police for assistance on Davisson Road.
