Eugene, OR – An Oakridge woman was arrested early Monday morning after a high-speed police pursuit that began on Irving Road and ended near River Road in northwest Eugene, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the chase started around 3 a.m. on January 7 when a patrol deputy observed a vehicle traveling more than 60 mph in a 35-mph zone. The driver allegedly refused to stop, accelerating north onto the Northwest Expressway and reaching speeds over 100 mph.

According to officials, deputies coordinated with a Junction City Police officer to deploy spike strips near Prairie Road and Milliron Road, successfully deflating the vehicle’s tires. The driver, identified as Racheal Anne Katlyn Obert, 30, of Oakridge, reportedly jumped from the still-moving car before it came to a stop in a nearby ditch.

Deputies say Obert complied once detained, and methamphetamine was found in her possession. She was booked into the Lane County Jail on multiple charges, including:

  • Fleeing or Attempting to Elude an Officer
  • Reckless Driving
  • Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Misdemeanor)

Authorities also noted outstanding warrants from Lane County Circuit Court and Springfield Municipal Court for prior theft and trespass cases.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office thanked Junction City Police for their assistance in the incident.
