Lane County, OR – Two Junction City men are in custody after deputies say they were caught in the process of stealing vehicles from a rural property south of Eugene early Wednesday morning.
According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6 a.m. Wednesday to a reported vehicle theft in the 32400 block of Fox Hollow Road, an area located south of Eugene in Lane County. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found two men asleep inside a pickup truck on the property.
Investigators believe the men had been actively loading one of the victim’s vehicles onto a trailer when deputies arrived. Both suspects were detained while deputies conducted further investigation at the scene.
Authorities identified one suspect as Gary Allen Dawson, 38, of Junction City, who was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail. Dawson faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree criminal trespass, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and two counts of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, according to officials.
The second suspect, Nigel Anthony Solesbee, 27, also of Junction City, was likewise arrested and lodged at the jail. Solesbee is charged with conspiracy to commit unlawful use of a vehicle, two counts of second-degree criminal trespass, and two counts of attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Following the arrests, a property crimes detective obtained a search warrant for a suspect vehicle and a separate property located in the 95400 block of Noraton Road, north of Junction City. During that search, deputies reportedly discovered a firearm and additional stolen property.
