Lane County, OR – A Creswell man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly setting fire to a trailer in Lane County, authorities said.
According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Oregon State Troopers responded to the 34100 block of Walnut Lane, north of Creswell, around 1 p.m. on September 13 for reports of a disorderly male. Witnesses told deputies the suspect, identified as 61-year-old Patrick Clancy Croson of Creswell, allegedly started a fire inside a fifth-wheel trailer on the property.
Deputies deployed an armored rescue vehicle and a drone to support firefighters as they worked to control the blaze, since Croson’s whereabouts and intentions were initially unclear. According to investigators, deputies later located Croson attempting to extinguish the burning motorhome with a garden hose. He was detained after what officials described as a brief struggle.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames before they spread to nearby homes or property. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported.
After further investigation, Croson was arrested and booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of Arson in the First Degree.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office thanked Oregon State Police and South Lane Fire & Rescue for assisting in the response.
