Lane County, OR – A routine traffic stop in Eugene on Tuesday afternoon led to the arrest of a local man now facing multiple felony drug and firearm charges, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the stop occurred around 2 p.m. on December 31 when a deputy observed a pickup truck with expired registration tags traveling on River Road near Howard Avenue. Deputies also reported the driver appeared to be using a water pipe while driving, prompting the stop.

The driver was identified as Isaac James Spinks, 32, of Eugene. During a search of the vehicle, deputies allegedly located more than 29 grams of methamphetamine, two concealed and loaded handguns, counterfeit $20 bills, and additional evidence consistent with drug distribution.

Spinks was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail.

According to jail records, Spinks is facing the following charges:

  • Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine
  • Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Forgery in the First Degree
  • Two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

Authorities did not indicate whether the firearms were stolen or if additional suspects are being sought. The investigation remains ongoing.

River Road is a heavily traveled north Eugene corridor connecting residential neighborhoods to downtown and nearby commercial areas. Law enforcement officials say proactive traffic enforcement remains a key strategy in intercepting illegal drugs and weapons before they reach the community.
