Coburg, OR – A burglary east of Coburg was stopped early Thursday morning after Lane County Sheriff’s deputies and residents reportedly interrupted the crime in progress. The suspect, identified as a 27-year-old Albany man, was allegedly armed but surrendered without incident.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy located a suspicious vehicle around 7 a.m. on October 9 in the 33300 block of Selby Way, just east of Coburg. The deputy reportedly observed firearms inside the vehicle. At the same time, nearby residents reported a man walking through rural properties.

Deputies located the suspect shortly after. Authorities identified him as Tanner Keading Bell, 27, of Albany. Investigators say Bell was armed with a handgun when he was detained.

Following further investigation, deputies determined Bell had allegedly burglarized a local residence. He was booked into the Lane County Jail on multiple charges, including first-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, criminal trespass with a firearm, second-degree criminal trespass, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

No injuries were reported during the arrest. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office credited nearby residents for assisting in locating the suspect.
