Lane County, OR – A Gresham man has been arrested following a fatal UTV crash near Triangle Lake on Sunday that left one passenger dead, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 5 p.m. October 20 to a reported UTV rollover on BLM Road 16-7-30. Fire crews arriving on scene determined the male passenger had died at the site.

According to the sheriff’s office, preliminary findings from the Lane County Crash Reconstruction Team indicate the UTV rolled during the incident. The passenger, who was reportedly seat-belted but not wearing a helmet, sustained fatal injuries.

Deputies noted signs of impairment in the driver, identified as Walter Frederick Rogers, 49, of Gresham. After further investigation, Rogers was arrested for DUI and booked into the Lane County Jail. The case will be reviewed by the Lane County District Attorney’s Office for potential additional charges.
