Glasgow, MT – A Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect for central and southeastern Montana, including Phillips, Valley, Petroleum, Garfield, and McCone counties, until 9 p.m. MDT Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching up to 40 mph are expected to continue throughout the region. The strong winds, combined with rough waves on area lakes, are creating hazardous conditions for small craft.

Boaters, especially those on Fort Peck Lake, are urged to use extra caution, as the gusty winds and choppy waters could potentially overturn small vessels. Travelers and residents are advised to secure outdoor items that could be blown around by the wind and avoid unnecessary travel near lake shores.

The wind advisory impacts cities such as Circle, Frazer, Malta, Glasgow, Winnett, and Hinsdale. These conditions are expected to persist until Wednesday evening. Be prepared for potentially dangerous lake conditions and plan accordingly.
