South Lake Tahoe, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area from noon today until 10 p.m. PST, with snowfall expected above 6,500 feet. The National Weather Service warns of accumulations between 2 and 6 inches at higher elevations, while lighter snow up to 2 inches may reach lake level areas west of Highway 89.

According to the NWS, strong winds up to 45 mph could reduce visibility to less than half a mile, particularly affecting major passes like Donner, Echo, Ebbetts, Carson, and Mt. Rose. Travelers are advised to anticipate slippery road conditions during the afternoon and evening commutes.

Motorists should proceed with caution and check 511 for the latest road conditions in their area.
