According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, winds will shift to easterly Thursday before becoming predominantly westerly by Saturday. Each day will follow a pattern of increasing gusts late morning through afternoon, calming overnight. Stronger-than-forecast gusts are possible, especially if thunderstorms develop.
Wind gusts on Friday are expected to top 21 knots in Duluth, 20 knots at Silver Bay, and 19 knots at Grand Marais. By Saturday afternoon, forecast gusts rise to 23 knots at Two Harbors and Silver Bay, and 22 knots at the Twin Ports. Sunday’s pattern looks similar, with gusts remaining in the 18–21 knot range for most of the shoreline.
