CHICAGO – After a mostly dry start to the week, rain returns to the city tonight before clearing skies bring a stretch of mild, comfortable weather heading into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, Tuesday will be partly sunny with a high near 67°F, followed by evening and overnight showers, mainly after dark. Rain chances climb to around 60%, with gusty north-northeast winds up to 25 mph along the lakefront.

By Wednesday, lingering morning showers give way to mostly cloudy skies and cooler conditions, with highs near 62°F. The rest of the week looks much brighter as high pressure builds in from the west — Thursday through Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s, perfect for outdoor plans across Chicagoland.

Another round of light showers is possible Friday night into early Saturday, but no widespread rainfall or severe weather is expected.

Overall, residents can expect a classic mid-October pattern — brief midweek rain, followed by a comfortable, mild stretch ideal for fall festivals, lakefront walks, and enjoying the changing leaves across the metro area.
