Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan residents should prepare for a wet stretch of weather as showers and thunderstorms move into the region this weekend.

According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, moisture will return today with scattered rain chances developing west of I-75. Highs are expected to reach between 68 and 77 degrees Saturday, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-50s.

Rain will expand across much of northern lower Michigan tonight and into the eastern Upper Peninsula by Sunday morning. Sunday’s forecast calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms with highs in the low to mid-70s. The unsettled pattern is expected to persist into early next week, with storm chances continuing Monday and additional showers Tuesday.

Forecasters noted that stronger southeast winds will create hazardous beach conditions along northern Lake Huron today. Swimmers and boaters are urged to use caution as waves and currents may pose risks.

By Wednesday, conditions may begin to improve with a possible break in showers, though temperatures will remain mild in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Residents and travelers across northern Michigan should monitor local forecasts and be prepared for changing weather conditions, especially near Lake Huron and along major travel corridors such as I-75.
