Lake Geneva, WI – Firefighters quickly brought a Saturday morning house fire under control on Dodge Street after thick smoke was seen coming from a two-story home, according to the Lake Geneva Fire Department.

At about 9:45 a.m., crews responded to 831 Dodge St., arriving within three minutes to find heavy smoke pouring from the residence. All occupants had already evacuated safely before firefighters began their attack, officials said. Water reached the flames just five minutes after arrival, and the blaze was contained by 10:25 a.m.

According to the department’s press release, mutual aid was called from several nearby communities, including Delavan, Elkhorn, Lyons, and Williams Bay. A MABAS Box Alarm was activated to bring additional help from Burlington, Sharon, and Bloomfield-Genoa City departments.

“The rapid response and coordination prevented this fire from spreading further,” said Lake Geneva Fire Chief John Peters. “We’re grateful for the teamwork and proud of our crew’s performance.”

Officials said the cause remains under investigation, though early signs suggest no criminal activity. One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported for treatment. All residents escaped without harm.

The department also thanked neighboring fire agencies for providing station coverage during the response, including Rochester, North Boone, Whitewater, and Hebron departments.
