TOLEDO, Ohio – Snow spreading into northwest Ohio late this afternoon will bring quick accumulation and hazardous travel, with the heaviest bands expected between early evening and late tonight. Lucas County faces the highest totals, prompting a Winter Storm Warning as heavy bursts of snow move in from the southwest.

According to the National Weather Service, snow begins after 3 p.m. and intensifies through the evening, with Lucas County likely to see 5 to 7 inches by early Sunday. Surrounding counties — including Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Hancock — can expect 3 to 5 inches under the Winter Weather Advisory. Areas farther east will generally see 1 to 3 inches, though localized pockets in the higher terrain of northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania could approach 4 inches.

Toledo, Bowling Green, Fremont, and Findlay should prepare for rapidly snow-covered roads during the evening commute. The most intense snowfall is expected from about 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., when isolated 1-inch-per-hour rates may occur in heavier bands.

Travel remains hazardous into Sunday morning as winds increase. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph may reduce visibility and blow snow back onto cleared surfaces, especially near open fields and along I-75 and I-80/90.

Conditions gradually improve after midmorning Sunday, but drivers should remain cautious until winds ease and crews can fully treat the roads.
