Erie, PA – The NWS Storm Prediction Center has placed the Lake Erie region under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch from 11:40 AM to 7:00 PM EDT on Tuesday. Scattered damaging winds, large hail, and a potential tornado are the primary threats.
According to the NWS, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop and move across the watch area throughout the afternoon. Wind gusts up to 75 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter are possible. The watch covers areas approximately 50 miles north and south of a line extending from Mansfield, OH to northeast of Harrisburg, PA.

The aviation community should prepare for extreme turbulence, surface wind gusts up to 65 knots, and possible severe thunderstorms with hail.
