Marquette, MI – The National Weather Service in Marquette reports that lake effect snow is tapering off today, though a couple of inches of fluffy accumulation remain possible across eastern Upper Michigan.

Temperatures will stay cold, with highs in the 20s and overnight lows near 10°F inland and around 20°F near the Keweenaw and eastern U.P.

Another clipper system will move in Friday, spreading 1–3 inches of new snow across the region — with the highest totals expected in the Copper Country and along the eastern U.P. After that system moves through, northwest winds will bring a resurgence of lake effect snow Friday night.

The bitter cold will deepen late Friday, with low temperatures near 0°F possible in the interior west.

Residents are urged to use caution on untreated roads and be prepared for continued winter driving conditions.
