Buffalo, NY – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for portions of western New York, including Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and southern Erie counties, until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, areas near the Lake Erie shoreline, including Dunkirk, Eden, and Orchard Park, could see an additional 3 to 5 inches of snow overnight. Locations farther from the lake are likely to receive lighter accumulations.

Travel conditions will be hazardous, with poor visibility and significant snow cover on roads. Motorists are advised to delay travel if possible and exercise extreme caution if driving is necessary. Major roadways in the region may experience temporary closures due to the severe conditions.

Residents are urged to stay indoors and limit outdoor exposure. Those venturing out should dress in layers and cover exposed skin to prevent frostbite.

Lake effect snow showers are expected to taper off by late morning as winds shift. Travelers can check for updates on road conditions by dialing 511 or visiting local transportation websites.
