Baldwin, MI – A 19-year-old Baldwin man has been charged with open murder following a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday, October 23, at the Wesco gas station in the Village of Baldwin, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Rich Martin announced in a Friday release that David Louis Lee III was arraigned on multiple charges, including open murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and carrying a concealed firearm.

According to authorities, the deadly incident took place Thursday evening, leading to an investigation that identified Lee as the suspect. He was taken into custody and formally charged on October 24, 2025.
