Lake County, MI – Two people from Evart were killed Sunday evening after a motorcycle collided with an SUV on US-10 near Forman Road in Yates Township, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 6:40 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2025, after reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Upon arrival, witnesses were already performing CPR on the male operator, and deputies began CPR on the female passenger.

According to Sheriff Rich Martin, both victims—identified as a 53-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, both from Evart—succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Preliminary investigation suggests the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on US-10 when an SUV heading westbound attempted to turn into a private residence, crossing in front of the motorcycle. The SUV was driven by a 54-year-old man from Chase, who sustained no major injuries.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Michigan State Police, Yates Fire Department, Webber Fire Department, Life EMS, West Michigan Medical Examiners Group, and U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
