Pleasant Plains Township, MI – A multi-vehicle crash in Lake County on Thursday afternoon sent two people to area hospitals and led to the arrest of a Baldwin man on his third alleged drunk driving offense.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 4:24 p.m. on November 13 to a collision at W. 76th Street and M-37 in Pleasant Plains Township involving three vehicles.

A preliminary investigation found that a vehicle traveling east on W. 76th Street allegedly failed to yield to traffic on M-37, striking a second vehicle and pushing it into the northbound lane, where it collided with a third car.

Authorities said the driver of the first vehicle, Jerry Tenbrink, 63, of Baldwin, allegedly provided false information about who was driving before admitting responsibility. Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Tenbrink was charged with Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) – 3rd Offense, Operating Without Security, and Driving While License Suspended. His bond was set at $30,000 cash, and he reportedly had an active warrant for a prior OWI offense.

A passenger, Kaara Wyatt, 61, of Baldwin, was charged with Felony Providing False Information to a Peace Officer and given a $2,000 bond.

The driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. A passenger was transported to Reed City Hospital, while the third driver was treated and later released.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by multiple fire departments, Michigan State Police, Life EMS, and Michigan DNR Law Enforcement during the response.
