Waukegan, IL – A Beach Park man was arrested Tuesday following a drug trafficking investigation led by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group (SIG) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) – Chicago Field Division.

According to the sheriff’s office, SIG launched an undercover operation in January after receiving a tip that Evan E. Crews, 34, was selling cocaine. Investigators allege Crews sold over 90 grams of cocaine to undercover detectives multiple times, including one transaction within 350 feet of an elementary school.

Authorities arrested Crews on Tuesday in the 200 block of Water Street, Waukegan. He faces multiple charges, including three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count of possession with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a school, and violating an order of protection.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg emphasized the dangers of drug trafficking, particularly near schools, and commended law enforcement for their efforts.

Crews remains in custody pending an initial court appearance.
