Long Grove, IL – A Wauconda man was arrested Wednesday after driving intoxicated, causing a traffic crash, and fleeing into a Lake County forest preserve.
Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash at Route 22 and Old McHenry Road at 3:25 p.m. The 911 caller reported the man who rear-ended his vehicle fled on foot. Telecommunicators provided a description to responding deputies, who established a perimeter.
Deputy Gauer and K9 Axel arrived at the scene. K9 Axel tracked the suspect nearly two miles into Heron Creek Forest Preserve. Deputies and forest preserve rangers located the suspect, identified as Yiyari C. Salvador, 26, near a trail. Salvador was arrested without incident.
Salvador was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and charged with two alleged counts of DUI, leaving the scene of a crash, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 25.
